ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION

DC Tower - new landmark for the city
The concept for both slender towers has been developed by the French star architect Dominique Perrault, the implementation of the design was conducted in collaboration with the Viennese office Hoffmann-Janz Architekten. Perrault, who has become internationally known for the national library in Paris, developed a master plan for the remaining area of VIENNA DC Donau City, which, in addition to the breathtaking towers, incorporates a space for living and communicating that corresponds with the Danube right next to it.

The claim: A state of the art in terms of construction and an emotional statement for a modern interpretation of the business location Vienna.

The primary concern is not to set new altitude records, but to create newly designed buildings, which impress with a demanding design and high property quality. The height of the towers results from the ambition to maintain the aesthetics of a slender tower in spite of the designated measurements of the cubature.

PROJECT

The DC Tower, designed by Dominique Perrault, is going to shape the Viennese skyline. With its 220 meters, DC Tower 1 is not only the highest building in Austria, but also a fascinating modern landmark of the city.

LOCATION

With Vienna DC, WED AG has seized the opportunity to build a “city within the city” on the opposite banks of the Danube in one of the most beautiful historic cities of Europe. This urban center with highly functional and sophisticated architecture and trend-setting residential and office buildings, research institutes, recreational facilities as well as event locations is only eight minutes away from the historic city center by metro.

Donau City lies at the driveway to Reichsbrücke and Donauuferautobahn and offers a direct connection to the highway network. Vienna National Airport is located approx. 20 minutes away. The total area amounts to 18.5 ha, of which approx. 1, 93 m³ are used in building. This measures up to a gross floor area of about 550 000 m2. The construction phase is expected to take about four to six years. At present, about two thirds have already been completed and utilized. The level of investment for this major project amounts to approx. 2 billion Euros.

The separation of car and pedestrian traffic in two levels guarantees optimal accessibility as well as undisturbed promenading. The access roads and the connection to the garages are located under the pedestrian level.

The location right at Europe’s biggest urban recreational area, the Donauinsel, is extraordinary. Due to its special location directly at the water and the neighboring recreational areas Donauinsel, Donaupark and Alte Donau, Donau City, according to international experts, currently count as “most interesting urban development project in Europe.”

UTILISATION

Office Space: In the first phase of construction of the DC Tower, around 44 000 m2 of premium-quality rental area are developed.

Housing: The possibilities to build exclusive apartments on the upper floors are explored. A small number of two-floor lofts with a rental space of approx. 300 m2 each are planned.

Hotel: On a total of 8 300 m2, a 4* hotel is going to be built over 15 floors of DC Tower 1. The leading Spanish hotel operator Sol Meliá is going to open one of his worldwide five ME-hotels. The high-quality, stylish and modern focus of the innovative operator perfectly matches DC Tower 1. The hotel is going to house 255 rooms, of which 102 Deluxe Rooms, 84 Loft Suites, 63 Urban Suites, and 6 Grand Suites. Various event locations are also going to be at disposal, which are all equipped with the most modern technology.

Public Spaces: Of course, DC Tower 1 is going to offer an exclusive food court, which is provided on the first floor and includes a top-restaurant as well as a bar with a breathtaking view of the city. In addition, an observation terrace offers a fascinating panorama at an altitude of 207 meters. Visitors and guests are brought to Vienna's Highest Level with high-speed elevators. Publicly accessible service facilities in the entrance area of the tower and a fitness studio on the second floor top off the variety of uses of DC Tower 1.
